Our Backyard Trails
Here are just a few of the many trails right on our doorstep…
Wadandi Walk/Cycle Track
This rail trail runs from Cowaramup to Witchcliffe and on to Boranup Forest. It is an excellent trail for riding with the family. The trail surface is mostly good, but there are a few muddy sections in winter.
Barrett Street Walk/Cycle Trail
Runs from the south side of Rotary Park, near the Hairy Marron, to the Barrett Street Weir. Be careful as it’s a popular walking trail. Cross the weir and return along the Bunnitji Biddi for an easy loop.
Bunnitj Biddi Walk/Cycle Trail
Starts from Rotary Park and follows the northern bank of the Margaret River, passing the traffic and footbridges at Perimeter Road. The Bunnitji Buddi continues on and crosses the Margaret River before doubling back to 10 Mile Brook Dam where there is a picnic area. Some sections of this trail can become flooded in winter months so there are some recommended “winter route” sections between July and October.
Jedi Loop
A popular Star Wars-themed cross-country loop accessed via the Wadandi Track off Lears Road. Consists of old forestry roads with single-track sections. Two additional trails are running through the middle. Most of the track is easy, with a few simple features which beginners can tackle. The trail is used for mountain bikers, walkers and runners.
Responsible Trail Riding
If we want to enjoy the bike & walking trails for years to come, we all have a part to play in protecting them.
- Respect trail closures and the wishes of land managers.
- Leave no trace. Take out everything you brought in.
- Control your bike and avoid skidding which tears up the trails.
- Know your equipment, your ability and the areas in which you are riding.
- If you’re unsure of an obstacle, get off and have a look to determine the best line. Don’t attempt features beyond your skill level. Work up to it!
- If it’s wet and the trail has water on it, consider riding a drier trail to minimise trail erosion in the park.
